Romancing the Duke

(Castles Ever After #1)

18052985About the book: In the first in Tessa Dare’s captivating Castles Ever After series, a mysterious fortress is the setting for an unlikely love . . .

As the daughter of a famed author, Isolde Ophelia Goodnight grew up on tales of brave knights and fair maidens. She never doubted romance would be in her future, too. The storybooks offered endless possibilities.

And as she grew older, Izzy crossed them off. One by one by one.

Ugly duckling turned swan?
Abducted by handsome highwayman?
Rescued from drudgery by charming prince?

No, no, and… Heh.

Now Izzy’s given up yearning for romance. She’ll settle for a roof over her head. What fairy tales are left over for an impoverished twenty-six year-old woman who’s never even been kissed?

This one.

Smexy Times?– Some

Overall – 3,5/5 stars

Basically, this is a story of love, cosplayers(yes, you read it right) and a blind grumpy Duke. This was good, I liked the story. The writing was amazing(and that’s always a plus), but my problem was …I didn’t connect with Izzy, I don’t why. Overall a good book, I would recommend!

Favorite Quotes from the Book
What fairy tales were left over for a plain, impoverished, twenty-six-year-old woman who’d never even been kissed?
This one.
Izzy had always been raised to believe that “please” was a magic word.
She’d been misled.
Apparently, the magic word was “dinner.” In addition, the words “bath” and “comfortable room” had their own particular charms. When spoken in quick succession, they had the power of an incantation. Izzy hadn’t been able to say no.
Ready, steady . . . matrimony!
