Taking Part in the “2020 Diversify Your Reading” Challenge

Photo by Florencia Viadana on Unsplash

Hello, My Darlings! It’s the end of the first month of 2020 and I need a Challenge, because why not…am I right? And why not challenge me for the whole year? So I found this amazing 2020 reading challenge on the monganmoments blog, she has a Facebook group and Instagram for this challenge, basically, the whole package definitely checks it out.   Let’s read what genres we have for the whole year!

2020 Diversify Your Reading Challenge

  • JANUARY: Historical Fiction
  • FEBRUARY: Romance
  • MARCH: Self-Help/How-To
  • APRIL: Young Adult
  • MAY: Science Fiction
  • JUNE: Non-Fiction
  • JULY: Suspense/Thriller
  • AUGUST: Contemporary Fiction
  • SEPTEMBER: True Crime
  • OCTOBER: Fantasy
  • NOVEMBER: Memoir & Autobiography
  • DECEMBER: Mystery

hghj

My plan for this is to read at least 1 book from the genres we have in the specific month and then write a review, but I can only read my  Physical TBR books,If I don’t have any in that genres than I can get an Ebook(those are rules I made for myself)I already have. I can see already that some will totally bring me out of my comfort zone(like non-fiction or Self-Help). Can’t wait! So we are skipping January(because it’s already ending).

So ready for the Challenge!

“Pink Dream”

This look was inspired by the Pink dress, I saw it and understood it’s the perfect dress for Valentine’s day. It can be casual or dressed up, whatever the occasion this dress can work. I made this look to be very romantic, but comfortable. I love those earrings, so simple but at the same time classy. Great look for a casual date or a late brunch.

My mood is “Red”

I found this top and was in love right away. Isn’t it pretty?! Pared with those interesting shoes, black high waisted jeans or leggings, and red lips are the perfect look for a night out with your significant other or your best friends.

“Green with Envy”

Isn’t this dress so cute?! I love the color of it and while making this #ootd, I remembered the perfume “Gabriella” by Chanel. It’s such a strong but at the same time feminine scent. That’s why I tried making this look more feminine but at the same time “strong” and confident.

Unpopular Opinion: I prefer Ebooks to Physical books and here is Why

Photo by Jasmin Whiscy on Unsplash

Don’t get me wrong, physical books are great and I do buy a lot of them(and you should too, nothing beats owning a physical copy of your favorite novel). Just with my lifestyle right now, Ebooks are my go-to, and  I do reach for them more. Here are some reasons why I prefer Ebooks to Physical books. Let’s dive into it!

ede0755338e6a4e41de86c09614db4f9_decorative-underline-clipart-clipartfest-drawing-art-_370-370

  • You can read ebooks anytime and anywhere

Wanna read in the dark? Easy! Wanna read a very specific book on the train? No problem! This is so important for me because my whole library is always in my pocket and I can read whatever I want or need. I’m a mood reader so it’s very important for me!

giphy (1)

  • Most Ebooks are cheaper than Physical books

We all know Hardcover books are expensive, of course, there are discounts and coupons but a new and anticipated realize will be expensive …but an ebook will be much cheaper AND you will get it the second you buy it. And there are always free ebooks in the amazon kindle app, what can be better than free?!

giphy (2)

  • There are some books you can only get as an ebook(mostly self-publish books)

There are so many ebooks that have never (and will never) be published on paper. It doesn’t mean they are worst then other books, just e-printing is a cheaper and faster way for authors to get their book out to the people. Some of my favorite books you can only get as an ebook and they are amazing! So definitely go check out some ebooks right away.

Best-book-ever

“Function of Beauty” Shampoo and Conditioner -UnBiased Review

How long did it last?

I started to use it in the middle of October, and I wash my hair every other day. So it did last for two and a half months, pretty good in my mind.

IMG_20200118_143802

Quality of my hair after using it for a month?

The first week it wasn’t the best(it was weirdly dry), but after that, it got much much better. I DON’T HAVE ANY SPLIT END (and I  didn’t get a haircut in the period of using this shampoo and conditioner) so that’s amazing. I found my hair didn’t get oily as much while using this shampoo, and it did get back to get extra oily when I switched shampoos. It did make my hair more manageable.

Is it worth it?

A week ago I would say no, now switching back to a “normal” shampoo I can totally say it is worth it! I can see the difference and it’s a big one. With my “normal” shampoo I can see my scalp is getting oilier then with “Function of Beauty” shampoo and conditioner, and my hair quality overall was better before going back to the “normal” shampoo. Definitely would encourage you to try for yourself, just use a coupon (you can find tons of them on the internet) so it will be a little bit cheaper. It is expensive ,but I did really like it.

Before I Go To Sleep by S.J. Watson-Book Review

joanna-kosinska-kKfVAvdBsAw-unsplash

“As I sleep, my mind will erase everything I did today. I will wake up tomorrow as I did this morning. Thinking I’m still a child. Thinking I have a whole lifetime of choice ahead of me. . . .”

Memories define us.

So what if you lost yours every time you went to sleep?

Your name, your identity, your past, even the people you love—all forgotten overnight.

And the one person you trust may be telling you only half the story.

Welcome to Christine’s life.

Spoiler Free

The story– 5/5

Setting of the book– 4/5

Main Hero– 5/5(I really liked Christine)

Smexy Times?– In flashbacks Yes

Overall – 4,9/5 stars

This is something to celebrate! I finally read one of my never ending physical TBR pile books. And it was very good! I haven’t read any books in Latvian for such a long time and I’m so happy I did that. So what can I say about this book? It was an amazing concept, waking up every day without remembering who you are and why you are here is an amazing situation to put in a thriller kind of setting. And it works! I was so sucked in the story that I stayed up until 3 in the morning to finish it. Great book, the great main hero and the “twist” was well executed. Would definitely recommend for you to check it out if you like thrillers, mysteries, and detective stories , you will definitely enjoy it!

FAVORITE QUOTES FROM THE BOOK

I cannot imagine how I will cope when I discover that my life is behind me, has already happened, and I have nothing to show for it. No treasure house of collection, no wealth of experience, no accumulated wisdom to pass on. What are we, if not an accumulation of our memories?”

This is dying everyday. Over and over.”

It’s not life, it’s just an existence, jumping from one moment to the next with no idea of the past, and no plan for the future.”

“I am sliding, down, down. Toward blackness, I must not sleep. I must not sleep.I.Must.Not.Sleep.

I Rewatched “Gossip Girl” and it’s even better then I remember!

Hello, My Darlings! Do you remember Gossip girl?if not then you are probably too young or lived under the rock in 2008 because this was the “Riverdale” of early 2010. And with a remake in the works, this is the time to revisit it.

giphy (1)
Blair and Chuck judging you for not watching Gossip Girl

I loved watching all the new episodes on my tv after school, it was such a great mix of mystery, romance, and teen drama. We were all intrigued by who was this Gossip Girl but more with the lives of those rich kids in New York. For a kid in Latvia, it was like discovering a whole new world, and at the same time finding how similar my friend group was to those kids(Like my childhood/early teen years was drama and scheming fueled, so many situations in the show was similar to those we had).To be honest, I don’t think it even needs a remake because of how good it was.

original

At the start of 2020, I wanted to watch something nostalgic, so I binge-watched the whole 6 seasons in the first week and it was even better then I remember. This was exactly what I needed, THIS SHOW WAS SOOOOO FRICKING GOOD. I really don’t want to spoil anything, because I want you all to watch it (that’s why I will try to be very brief). I loved the friendship between Blair and Selena, how they managed to go from frenemies to actual best friends forever.

tumblr_n2qts3v7kn1rx61nzo1_500

The relationship between Chuck and Blair was much healthier then I remember. In my mind, it was a little bit more toxic, dysfunctional like “I can’t live without you, but I can’t live with you” kinda thing. And it wasn’t really that, but more like “I love you, but we need to grow up”.Overall the thing I understand from them is I need my own Chuck Bass in my life if you know where to get one leave it down below.

MY THOUGHTS

I  used it for 2 days to get my “first impression”

ede0755338e6a4e41de86c09614db4f9_decorative-underline-clipart-clipartfest-drawing-art-_370-370

Packaging

4 stars

I really liked the packaging! The box was sealed in a plastic wrapping, I really appreciate stuff like that. The bottle has an interesting form and the black “brush” on it makes it extra fancy. This would make a great gift.

Quality and Scent

4 stars

The quality of the bottle and the actual perfume is much better than I anticipated. The perfume has a pretty good staying power on the skin (3h-4h), stays on the clothes a little bit longer than on the skin. The scent of the perfume ..the best way to describe it is “Spicy but sweet oriental scent”. Some said it’s similar to the Chanel no.5 just cheaper, but I would disagree. I hate Chanel no.5 with a passion and this perfume is nothing like it, it’s much sweeter than the Chanel one.

Overall

Pros

  • Affordable price( I got it for 16 euros- 2 bottles of far away and far away rebel perfume)
  • Long-Lasting
  • Cute bottle
  • Makes a great gift
  • It’s a “vintage” scent

Cons

  • You can only get it just from an Avon distributor
  • The scent is not universal,so many people will not like it
