Changeling (Order of Darkness #1)by Philippa Gregory

Italy, 1453. Seventeen-year-old Luca Vero is brilliant, gorgeous—and accused of heresy. Cast out of his religious order for using the new science to question old superstitious beliefs, Luca is recruited into a secret sect: The Order of the Dragon, commissioned by Pope Nicholas V to investigate evil and danger in its many forms, and strange occurrences across Europe, in this year—the end of days.

Isolde is a seventeen-year-old girl shut up in a nunnery so she can’t inherit any of her father’s estate. As the nuns walk in their sleep and see strange visions, Isolde is accused of witchcraft—and Luca is sent to investigate her, but finds himself plotting her escape.

Despite their vows, despite themselves, love grows between Luca and Isolde as they travel across Europe with their faithful companions, Freize and Ishraq. The four young people encounter werewolves, alchemists, witches, and death-dancers as they head toward a real-life historical figure who holds the boundaries of Christendom and the secrets of the Order of the Dragon

OVERALL – 4/5 STARS

This one was a good surprise. The reviews were mixed, so I expected a 3 star read at most…but It was a solid 4! The story was engaging, the writing was phenomenal and you could easily immerse yourself in the story. I liked Luca and Isolde, and the internal battles they had(and everything they ever knew). I expected magic, like actual magic, but it was mostly about what people at that time thought was “magic”.This would be perfect for like 7/8 grader who is learning about the middle ages as a supplement, and I think it was written with that in mind. Overall great book, can’t wait to read the next one.

After All I’ve Done by Mina Hardy- ARC review

joanna-kosinska-kKfVAvdBsAw-unsplash

Writing as Mina Hardy, New York Times bestselling author Megan Hart delivers a thrilling new psychological suspense for fans of The Woman in the Window and When the Lights Go Out.
She’s lost her best friend, her husband–and possibly, her mind.

Five months ago, an accident left Diana Sparrow badly injured and missing a few months of her memory. As if that’s not enough, she’s started having recurring nightmares about the night of the accident. Dreams that feel so real, she’s left questioning: maybe she didn’t just slide off the road into a ditch. Maybe, just maybe, she hit something. Or someone.

I requested this book because of the cover and if you know me…I love beautiful covers. This had my mind BLOWN! It’s my first book by the author but I’m already in love. The writing style was phenomenal, the story was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. I loved the dual point of view(the mistress and the wife). If you liked “Before I Go to Sleep” by S.J. Watson then you will love this one.One of the wildest books I have read in a long time.

Thank you Crooked Lane Books and Netgalley for the e-ARC of this book. All opinions are mine.

Ruthless Empire (Royal Elite #6) by Rina Kent- book review

joanna-kosinska-kKfVAvdBsAw-unsplash

She’s off limits. He has none.

There’s a girl.
Beautiful. Popular. Fake.
And my obsession.
My fall.
Probably my damnation.
Did that stop me? Do I care? No and no.
There’s a line between right and wrong. Moral and immoral.
And then there’s her.
I cross every limit with blood-coated fingers.
She says she hates me.
I say I hate her too as I trap her, own her.
Make her all mine.

Ruthless Empire is part of Royal Elite Series, but could be read on its own. For better understanding of the world, you might want to read the previous books first. This is a mature new adult and contains situations that some readers can find offensive

Another Rina Kent book with unexpected twist! How does She do it?!My mind was blown…literally(No spoilers of course). This one was the longest book out of the series, but it felt like the shortest…I wanted more. I loved Cole and Silver ,they had such a beautiful love story of hate/love/toxic parents and expectations. Will miss this series a lot!

FAVORITE QUOTES FROM THE BOOK

We’re proper people with proper manners and proper secrets.

Congratu-fucking-lations?

I’d never tell Cole this, but I’m glad he’s holding my hand. I feel like demons will jump from the walls and devour us.
Or me, to be more specific. Cole would probably make friends with them.

My chaos.

My damnation

I read it as a buddy read with the lovely Nishtha from wheresmystory blog. We had so much fun reading and discussing it. So what did I think? Overall I liked it,it was much better then I expected. To be honest, I did read a lot of spoilers about the plot, but I still was surprised about almost everything. The writing style was amazing, easy to follow. I expected Nesta to be a bigger bitch, but she wasn’t and I was surprised. Still love Lucien and Cassian (will protect them forever). Overall it’s a great book, wasn’t really happy with the ending but you can’t have it all.

FAVORITE QUOTES FROM THE BOOK

He’d tied his hair up, a few strands of it falling into his face as he swooped down again and threw a second trout onto the sandy bank where I’d been trying to find a substitute for fishing twine.

“Why should I be scared of an oversized bat who likes to throw temper tantrums?”

Viviane’s sapphire eyes flared as if struck by lightning. “If this war goes poorly, we’ll be bleeding out right alongside you, so I think we damn well get a say in things.”

“That bastard,” Nesta said with utter coolness, though her eyes began to burn, “may wind up being the only person standing in the way of Hybern’s forces and your people.”

June Wrap Up(2020)

Hello! How are you? Hope you are doing well? How was your June? Well…mine was crazy,I started a youtube channel and was part of#CreepyJuneReads project on Instagram and I did a 24hreadathon with the Readathon Babes! And it was amazing. Basically I tried really hard to be productive. So let’s talk books now!

Mr. Cavendish, I Presume

(Two Dukes of Wyndham #2)

                                                                          by Julia Quinn

joanna-kosinska-kKfVAvdBsAw-unsplash
for blog bookAmelia Willoughby has been engaged to the Duke of Wyndham for as long as she can remember. Literally. A mere six months old when the contracts were signed, she has spent the rest of her life waiting. And waiting. And waiting … for Thomas Cavendish, the oh-so-lofty duke, to finally get around to marrying her. But as she watches him from afar, she has a sneaking suspicion that he never thinks about her at all …It’s true. He doesn’t. Thomas rather likes having a fiancee — all the better to keep the husband-hunters at bay — and he does intend to marry her … eventually. But just when he begins to realize that his bride might be something more than convenient, Thomas’s world is rocked by the arrival of his long-lost cousin, who may or may not be the true Duke of Wyndham. And if Thomas is not the duke, then he’s not engaged to Amelia. Which is the cruelest joke of all, because this arrogant and illustrious duke has made the mistake of falling in love … with his own fiancee!

jessica-ruscello-OQSCtabGkSY-unsplash
A book by Julia Quinn I haven’t read?! Is this real?Yes,those were my exact thoughts when I found this one and I can say…I enjoyed it (logical…it’s Julia Quinn…my autobuy author). And I love it,it’s such a good book and the story was sweet. Overall you NEED to check it out!

What to Do with a Duke

(Spinster House #1)

by Sally MacKenzie

joanna-kosinska-kKfVAvdBsAw-unsplash

Welcome to the charming, fatefully named village of Loves Bridge, where a woman22891422 destined for spinsterhood can live a life of her own choosing—or fall unexpectedly, madly in love…

Miss Isabelle Catherine Hutting would rather be lounging in the library than circling the ballroom in search of a husband any day. So when Cat hears that the town’s infamous Spinster House is open for a new resident, she jumps at the chance to put all this marriage business behind her. But first she must make arrangements with her prospective landlord, Marcus, the Duke of Hart—the most handsome man she’s ever seen, and the only man who’s ever impressed her in the least…

With her wit, independent spirit, and not least of all her beauty, Marcus can’t help but be stirred by Cat. It’s terribly unfortunate he’s not looking to marry, given the centuries-old curse that left his family with the Spinster House to begin with. No duke shall live to see his heir’s birth. But is there a chance the curse could be broken—in true fairy-tale fashion—by an act of true love? The race to Happily Ever After is about to begin…

jessica-ruscello-OQSCtabGkSY-unsplash

Mmmmkay ,I really liked it (and the cover is pretty 😍)The writing style was good ,loved Cat’s siblings and this mystical “curse” was a very intriguing part of the story. Overall a great historical romance to read by the pool💕

A Good Day to Marry a Duke

(Sin and Sensibility #1)

by Betina Krahn

joanna-kosinska-kKfVAvdBsAw-unsplash

34568964._SY475_Daisy Bumgarten isn’t thrilled to be trying to catch a duke’s attention while dressed like a flower pot caught in a swarm of butterflies. But, after all, when in Rome (or in this case London society)… Since her decidedly disastrous debut among New York’s privileged set, the sassy Nevada spitfire’s last chance to “marry well” lies across the pond, here in England. If she must restrain her free spirit, not to mention her rib cage, so be it. She knows she owes it to her three younger sisters to succeed.

Now, under a countess’s tutelage, Daisy appears the perfect duchess-in-training…Until notorious ladies’ man Lord Ashton Graham, a distraction of the most dangerous kind, glimpses her mischievous smile and feisty nature—and attempts to unmask her motives. Daisy has encountered snakes on the range, but one dressed to the nines in an English drawing room is positively unnerving—and maddeningly seductive. When a veiled plot emerges to show up Daisy as unworthy of the aristocracy, will Ashton be her worst detractor? Or the nobleman she needs most of all?

It was a cute story! I loved Daisy and Ashton, the chemistry was there and that’s amazing. Great writing style, interesting story…Overall I would recommend!

The Bookish Boyfriends series by Tiffany Schmidt

joanna-kosinska-kKfVAvdBsAw-unsplash

Boys are so much better in books. At least according to Merrilee Campbell, fifteen, who thinks real-life chivalry is dead and there’d be nothing more romantic than having a guy woo her like the heroes in classic stories. Then she, her best friend, Eliza, and her younger sister, Rory, transfer to Reginald R. Hero Prep—where all the boys look like they’ve stepped off the pages of a romance novel. Merri can hardly walk across the quad without running into someone who reminds her of Romeo.

When the brooding and complicated Monroe Stratford scales Merri’s trellis in an effort to make her his, she thinks she might be Juliet incarnate. But as she works her way through her literature curriculum under the guidance of an enigmatic teacher, Merri’s tale begins to unfold in ways she couldn’t have imagined. Merri soon realizes that only she is in charge of her story. And it is a truth universally acknowledged that first impressions can be deceiving . . .

A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses #2) by Sarah J. Maas – book review

joanna-kosinska-kKfVAvdBsAw-unsplash

As Feyre navigates its dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms—and she might be key to stopping it. I finished A court of mist and fury and I need a moment now
Overall I loved it ,so many twists and turns, it was epic. I can’t wait to read the next one! I would recommend for people older than 18 because this one was more graphic than the first one. And just so you know, I have two cinnamon buns now, Cassian and Lucien!

Unpopular opinion time(mild spoilers,be aware). And remember, those are my opinions and we can all agree to disagree!
💙
Tamlin isn’t that bad. Is he a good guy? No ,but I truly think he loved Feyre just showed it a way he knew how. And they both suffered from PTSD, nothing healthy can come from this kind of relationship.
💙
Rhysand is a manipulator, and a pretty good. If a guy (or really anyone) asks you something and then says “it’s your decision”, every single time…they are swaying you to do what they want. It’s the oldest type of manipulation and a pretty effective one. Still think he is dreamy…..
💙
I could enjoy it more without the sex scenes. I get it, it’s a very good way to show their bond. But I enjoyed the epic fantasy aspects more.

This is the first book I have read from this particular author. My main reason for getting this ebook was the cover😍(and of course the title, who doesn’t love some fea in they’re life). I loved the writing style, the story was interesting and easy to follow. This story is told from multiple points of view, I don’t like books like that, but in this case, it worked, mainly because you could really tell the difference between our heroes. Overall a great easy and fast read, have already gotten the next book and can’t wait to see where this story is going

The show on TV was about a bunch of girls competing to win some modeling contract. Two of the contestants were arguing about who deserved to win the show.
Silver’s eyebrow curved. “This is what humans spend their time fighting over?”
Vito sipped his wine. “Wonderful, isn’t it?”

“Lipstick is a tricky thing.” Eden shut Fiona’s door and using the button on the keys, made sure she was locked. “One wrong move of the lips before it’s dry and bad things can happen.”

“My friend seems to have a case of love-at-first-sight,” the girl said. “Which isn’t like him.”
“Ahh, good ol’ love-at-first-sight. So fairytale-esque.”

“Fae Hunters, huh?” Kaelem leaned back. “Like Buffy but they hunt us not vampires. Interesting.”

“I’ve been dreaming of you,” Stella said. “Not in a creepy way, but I’m a clairvoyant.

This was an epic treasure hunt! The treasure hunt was even better than the romance(and the romance in this book was GOOD). I loved the bickering between our main couple (Jane and Adam) it was well written and the tension was sooo real! The writing style was phenomenal, can’t wait to read more from this author.

“Clearly,” he said. “I would have consulted a witch, had I known. However, as you were here, Oxfordshire was short of witches.”

She flashed a smile meant to slice. “If suitors are all of your species, sir, then I prefer a dog. At least they possess the good sense to cease howling from time to time.”

“But we shall never be friends.”
“Of course. Our dearly departed ancestors would never forgive such betrayal.

Aunt Hester stood straight and lifted her chin. “Nonsense, sir. As a member of polite society, I rub elbows with pigs regularly. My lovely niece should take the seat.”

“Beelzebub. Prince of demons. Perfect. At least we are not required to ride him. Otherwise, he might carry us straight through the gates of Hell.”
