This was an interesting one…I didn’t know it was the 3rd book in a series, so the first 7 pages were confusing. But after getting over it, the story was enjoyable. It was wholesome, well written, and really atmospherical. I liked the romance, it was sweet. The only thing, the English in this one was really “proper” as in 1800 proper. So as a person whose native language is not english, it was hard to read fast, and if you are a beginner english reader…skip this one!

The Duke Meets His Match by Karen Tuft -ARC review

joanna-kosinska-kKfVAvdBsAw-unsplash

54737526. sx318 At thirty years of age, Susan Jennings has long been considered a spinster. Exceptionally intelligent, she has little tolerance for London and the dreaded Season—if that’s how one is expected to find love, it’s not for her. But when an invitation arrives that cannot be ignored, Susan leaves her comfortable life in the country and enters the fashion and frivolity she most despises. She quickly discovers, however, that there is more to loathe in London—and his name is George Kendall.

George, Duke of Aylesham, has learned to keep his distance from cloying females chasing the title of duchess. Susan Jennings, however, proves an entirely different challenge—a woman who has pushed him to the limit of his patience with their every encounter. But their simmering hostility is disrupted by a thoughtless slip-up: to avoid a marriage of political strategy, George claims he is already betrothed. And when pressed for the name of the lucky woman, only one name comes to mind: Susan’s. Their forced betrothal proves advantageous, but when their verbal sparring must change in order to be convincing, the line between fact and fiction becomes blurred by something neither expected: love.

OVERALL – 3/5 STARS

First of all, I love the cover, it’s simple but at the same time beautiful. The writing was good, I liked how detailed it was, but the passing of the book was all over the place . Really enjoyed the use of real historical figures (like Prince Regent and Lord Alvanley) But…sadly our couple Gorge and Susan didn’t have enough chemistry together for mine liking. Overall it was okay if you like classical literature you will love this one!

I was provided with an eARC of this book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The Earl Not Taken (The Wallflowers of West Lane #1) by A.S. Fenichel -book review

joanna-kosinska-kKfVAvdBsAw-unsplashLeft standing on the side while their contemporaries marry into society, four young ladies forge a bond to guard each other from a similar fate…

Finishing school failed to make a proper lady of Penelope Arrington. But as a Wallflower of West Lane, Poppy has a far more vital role—she and her three best friends have made a pact to protect each other from the clutches of dangerous, disreputable men. So when one of them is about to be married off to a duke sight unseen, Poppy makes it her mission to divine the prospective husband’s true character. If only she didn’t require the aid of London’s most unsuitable rake.

Rhys Draper, Earl of Marsden, has known the headstrong Poppy since she was a young girl naïve to the ways of men. To her eternal chagrin—and to his vague amusement—they have been at odds over the memory of their embarrassing first encounter all these years. Now, with his services in need, Rhys sees a chance to finally clear the air between them. Instead, he is surprised by the heat of their feelings. If the two do not tread carefully, they may end up in a most agreeably compromising position…

“Do men still do stupid things in the name of love, or is that reserved for those novels the ladies like to read?”

You know I love historical romance ,but ahhh…. sadly I’m disappointed. I really wanted to love it,but couldn’t. It was boring, and I don’t know why. It had my favourite trope ever – enemies to lovers. The friendship between our wallflowers was precious ,I love that.  But guys,it dragged….A LOT. Maybe the next book in the series is better, will see. 3 🌟 stars from me.

“Spinster Heiresses trilogy”- review

If Ever I Should Love You
(Spinster Heiresses #1)

bookAbout the book: Once upon a time there were three young ladies who, despite their fortunes, had been on the Marriage Mart a bit too long. They were known as the “Spinster Heiresses” . . .

He’s inherited a title, but not a penny to speak of, so the Earl of Rochdale knows he must find a wife—preferably one tolerably pretty and good-tempered, but definitely wealthy, and willing to exchange her fortune for his family name.

His choice: Leonie Charnock, one of the season’s “Spinster Heiresses.” Years before, the earl had saved the dark-eyed beauty’s reputation, and she is still breathtakingly lovely, leading Rochdale to hope that their marriage will be more than in name only.

However, Leonie doesn’t want to be anyone’s wife. Nearly destroyed by the secrets in her past, Leonie agrees to their union with one condition: there will be a wedding but no bedding. But it’s a condition the new Countess Rochdale isn’t sure even she can keep . . .

Trigger warning – alcohol abuse and rape

This wasn’t the best start of a trilogy. Like the story wasn’t the worst even enjoyable in some parts, but those “plot twists” just…why? The back story of this love story was good, but I wanted to know more about our Spinster Heiresses like you want me to believe that the best friends who are so close see each other just once a year? And don’t at least write letters to each other?! Doesn’t make sense. But on the other side, I did feel the chemistry between our main couple, that’s saved this book for me.

A Match Made in Bed
(Spinster Heiresses #2)

book 2About the book: Miss Cassandra Howell is too tall, too bookish, and too smart—but she does have money and a father who wants a grand title for her. Cassandra hasn’t felt a desire to marry until she meets the sinfully handsome Duke of Camberly, who captures her imagination . . . until Soren York, Earl of Dewsberry and her family’s sworn enemy, steps in the way.

The Holwells ruined Soren’s family, and he’s lived on the knife’s edge trying to resurrect their fortunes . . . until he considers marrying the Holwell Heiress. Not only would her dowry give him the funds he needs, he has secretly had an eye on the independent-minded bluestocking since they both first realized the differences between men and women.

She likes to read; he has no patience for books. She knows little of sex; he is a man of the world and willing to school her. Her family destroyed his; his offer of marriage may be her only salvation.

Now Cassandra and Soren must learn to love each other for who they are, not what they are—and the lessons are becoming an exercise in absolute pleasure.

This one was good! Just ditch the first one and read this one instead. I loved Cassandra, and her voice was very prominent. The feud between our families was…weak, but that’s mine only complain. I loved it and would recommend!

The Duke That I Marry
(Spinster Heiresses #3)

book 3About the book: Is it wrong for a woman to want more?

Not if she is a Spinster Heiress. They do not settle. Any young miss would be very lucky to find herself promised to a man like the Duke of Camberly. However, Miss Willa Reverly has watched her friends marry for love. Camberly may be the prize of the season, but she will not be “sold” to any man. She wants his devotion or she wants nothing at all.

When is a Marriage of Convenience inconvenient?

Newly named to the ducal title, Matthew Addison is determined to discover the secrets behind Mayfield, the bankrupt estate he has inherited. He doesn’t have time to coddle a headstrong heiress who is determined to ditch him over something as silly as “love.” Little does he know that his questions will place her in jeopardy. Now he must do what he must to save them both.

Could it be that in running from danger they might be racing headlong into a truly unexpected fate: falling in love?

We are finishing our trilogy ended on an average note. It was enjoyable, but not perfect. It didn’t grab me, but was it still an okay book? Yes, it was. Loved the epilog where we got to see how are our Heiresses doing, would love to see something like 10 years in the future but I’m satisfied with what we got.
