Everless (Everless #1) by Sara Holland – book review

32320661In the kingdom of Sempera, time is currency—extracted from blood, bound to iron, and consumed to add time to one’s own lifespan. The rich aristocracy, like the Gerlings, tax the poor to the hilt, extending their own lives by centuries.

No one resents the Gerlings more than Jules Ember. A decade ago, she and her father were servants at Everless, the Gerlings’ palatial estate, until a fateful accident forced them to flee in the dead of night. When Jules discovers that her father is dying, she knows that she must return to Everless to earn more time for him before she loses him forever.

But going back to Everless brings more danger—and temptation—than Jules could have ever imagined. Soon she’s caught in a tangle of violent secrets and finds her heart torn between two people she thought she’d never see again. Her decisions have the power to change her fate—and the fate of time itself

I know better than to be afraid of stories

The idea takes hold of me, somewhere deep down, and I know that as soon as I can, I will have to find my own way to the town out of time.

The Queen’s voice is deep and resonant—like a physical thing, it takes up space in the room.

“Ordeal by Innocence” Tv Mini series- review(Spoiler-free)

agatha-christie-ordeal-by-innocence-amazon-videoBased on the same-name novel by Agatha Christie. Christmas 1954. Wealthy philanthropist Rachel Argyll is murdered at her family estate Sunny Point. Her adopted son Jack Argyll is arrested for her murder. He vehemently protests his innocence. Old wounds are reopened for the Argyll family after learning that Jack, the black sheep of the clan, may not have killed the Argylls’ tyrannical matriarch and that one of them may be the real murderer.

The story starts with a seemingly happy family, getting thru the dead of mother and one of the adopted siblings, who died in the prison. In just 3 episodes we are told a very interesting tale of love, betrayal and family secrets. And slowly one by one the secrets start to come to life. I loved the slow suspense and how well it was portrayed.tumblr_pecl48zcda1v5zaklo1_540

The Cast

I’m very happy with the cast, they did a great job portraying the life of a dysfunctional rich family in the 50s. Bill Nighy as the Leo Argyll was amazing,he truly steals the show!

Magnolia Cove Series By Ella Fields(Short Review)- Spoiler free

Kiss and Break Up
(Magnolia Cove #1)

44285993._SY475_Dashiell Thane wasn’t a nice guy.
He was an abrasive, demanding, conniving, intolerable brat.
Yet somehow, we’d been best friends our whole lives.
Until our senior year when I finally decided to dip my toes into the dating pool.

All it took was one kiss for jealousy, lies, and betrayal to sweep in and propel us heart first into dizzying, hostile depths.

You’re not supposed to kiss your best friend.
You’re definitely not supposed to kiss your best friend while you’re dating someone else.
And the absolute worst thing you could do is fall for your best friend.
Unless, of course, you want to ruin everything.

I was up the whole night to finish this book, so you can say I was invested! I really really liked it…but did I love it? Not really, there were moments I felt where dragging a little bit. But did it make the story less interesting and sweet? No, totally not. I would recommend it if you like angsty romance stories.

3,8/5 stars

Forever and Never
(Magnolia Cove #2)

43411673._SY475_Lars Bradby was supposed to be my forever.
That was before we found out he would become a father at the tender age of eighteen.

For years, he’d watched me.
For months, he’d wanted me.
For weeks, he’d chased me.

Relentless and infuriating, he turned my stubborn heart into something pliable and weak.
Sly and honest, he worked his way into my life as though he’d always planned to be the focal point of it.

In love and naive, even when our future seemed bleak, I believed in us.
Heartbroken and desperate, I tore my bleeding heart from my chest, wanting only the best for him.

In doing so, our forever wasn’t just interrupted. It was chased away with one irreversible decision after another.
And now, we could no longer see it beneath the heaping piles of debris we’d left in our wake.

After reading the first one, I decided to read the whole series. This was a very raw and emotional read. Definitely more intense than the first book. A very honest story of love, life and growing up. I loved it, would definitely recommend it.

4/5 stars

Hearts and Thorns
(Magnolia Cove #3)

44420747._SY475_Jackson Thorn was my best friend and worst enemy, but that didn’t stop me from wanting him.

From first words to high school halls, our childhood years braided a bond that wove in a direction neither of us could predict or outgrow.

Forbidden became a word we ignored.
It wasn’t that we didn’t care.
It was that we cared too much.

We had it all planned out.
We thought we could make it.
We thought we’d been careful.
But all we managed to do was prolong the inevitable.
Our destruction.

Hearts and Thorns is a standalone full length new adult stepbrother romance

This book blew my mind! I didn’t expect the road it took. I’m really trying not to spoil it, because of how much my mind was blown… just read it! And yes, it does drag a little bit in the middle but the ending…it makes up for it.

4/5 stars

This was an epic treasure hunt! The treasure hunt was even better than the romance(and the romance in this book was GOOD). I loved the bickering between our main couple (Jane and Adam) it was well written and the tension was sooo real! The writing style was phenomenal, can’t wait to read more from this author.

“Clearly,” he said. “I would have consulted a witch, had I known. However, as you were here, Oxfordshire was short of witches.”

She flashed a smile meant to slice. “If suitors are all of your species, sir, then I prefer a dog. At least they possess the good sense to cease howling from time to time.”

“But we shall never be friends.”
“Of course. Our dearly departed ancestors would never forgive such betrayal.

“I believe Mrs. Byrd should have the seat. She is quite above rubbing elbows with pigs.
Aunt Hester stood straight and lifted her chin. “Nonsense, sir. As a member of polite society, I rub elbows with pigs regularly. My lovely niece should take the seat.”

“Beelzebub. Prince of demons. Perfect. At least we are not required to ride him. Otherwise, he might carry us straight through the gates of Hell.”

I will walk barefoot as did my distant ancestors. If bare feet were good enough for them, then bare feet are good enough for me.”

“They are all dead. Perhaps their lack of suitable footwear was to blame.”

Before I Go To Sleep by S.J. Watson-Book Review

“As I sleep, my mind will erase everything I did today. I will wake up tomorrow as I did this morning. Thinking I’m still a child. Thinking I have a whole lifetime of choice ahead of me. . . .”

Your name, your identity, your past, even the people you love—all forgotten overnight.

And the one person you trust may be telling you only half the story.

This is something to celebrate! I finally read one of my never ending physical TBR pile books. And it was very good! I haven’t read any books in Latvian for such a long time and I’m so happy I did that. So what can I say about this book? It was an amazing concept, waking up every day without remembering who you are and why you are here is an amazing situation to put in a thriller kind of setting. And it works! I was so sucked in the story that I stayed up until 3 in the morning to finish it. Great book, the great main hero and the “twist” was well executed. Would definitely recommend for you to check it out if you like thrillers, mysteries, and detective stories , you will definitely enjoy it!

A person who cannot go to the police is a person who cannot be trusted.
Everyone has something in the past that will not stay quiet.
“No, but women, in general, need to be more confident.”
“I don’t need to be more confident. My confidence is perfect.”
Walter said, “Money is thicker than blood.”
“I miss my long locks. Look at me.” She pouted. “I’m a little Roman boy come to life.”
Timothy Brown’s head remained buried in the morning paper. “I call her Claudius. Still ought to need a shield for the full effect though.
“What do you want me to say?”
“I called you because I wanted your advice.”
“Bull. You called me because you wanted me to tell you it was a great idea. Well, it’s not.”

Book Review – The Marriage Pact by Winter Renshaw(Spoiler free)

I was sixteen when I vowed I would never marry him.
We shook on it. Pinky swore. Even put it in writing and all but signed our names in blood.
It was the one and only thing we ever agreed on.
To the world, he’s Prince Julian, Duke of Montcroix, second in line to the Chamont throne. Panty-melting accent. Royal charm. Hypnotic presence. Blindingly gorgeous. Laundry list of women all over the world who would give their first born for the chance to marry him. Most eligible bachelor in the free world …
But to me, he’s nothing more than the son of my father’s best friend—the pesky blue-eyed boy who made it his mission to annoy the ever-loving hell out of me summer after summer as our families vacationed together, our parents oblivious to our mutual disdain as they joked about our “betrothal.”
He was also my first kiss.
And my first taste of heartbreak so cataclysmic it almost broke me.
I meant it with every fiber of my soul when I swore I’d never marry him.
But on the eve of my 24th birthday, His Royal Highness has the audacity to show up at my door after years of silence and make a demand will forever change the trajectory of our lives: “We have to break our pact.”

Spoiler Free Review of “The Boyfriend Whisperer 2.0” by Linda Budzinski

About the book:51sQFow0TxL

Alicea Springer was Boyfriend Whisperer Enterprises’ top success story. That is, until her dream date, Ty Walker, dumped her a week before prom. Now it’s senior year, and Alicea has taken over the business and given it an upgrade using an automated matchmaking program designed to help her classmates find their perfect match.

Alicea has no interest in using the program herself. She already knows who her perfect match is … Ty. She doesn’t need an app to tell her that (or worse, match her up with someone else). In a moment of weakness, Alicea allows her friends to convince her to give the program a try. To her horror, it matches her with the last boy on earth she’d ever want to date — Darius Groves, the class deadbeat.

When she and Darius are paired up for a class project, Alicea learns there’s more to him than his bad reputation. But the more she spends time with Darius, the more she questions their match. They have so little in common. Why did her program match them?

Can Alicea defy the odds and make a match of her own heart’s desire? Or will the matchmaker remained unmatched?

My Thoughts :

The story- 4/5

Setting of the book-5/5(I did like it a lot)

Main Hero- 3,5/5

Smexy Times? Non,a very clean story

It is a Sequal, but you can read it as a standalone.

It was a nice, fast, clean Teen romance with an interesting twist. I loved Alicea’s friend group and how supportive they were. I enjoyed the writing style and how easy the story was flowing. Of course, sometimes I had a facepalm because of some stupid teen decisions, but it’s a YA book so that’s expected.

Book review: Broken by Crystal Kaswell (Spoiler Free)

giphy-downsized (1)Have you ever forgot something you did? Well, I apparently am very forgetful. Some time ago I did sign up for Crystal Kaswell ARC team. Didn’t know I was approved, but a week ago I got an email with the new book called Broken. It was a big (but very exciting) surprise. Let’s start with my spoiler-free review!

About the book :
I lost her once. I won't lose her again.

After my brother's death, I was drowning.
She was my life raft.
Delilah and I were opposites, the outspoken art student and the brooding athlete. She was passionate where I was apathetic, bright where I was dark, soft where I was hard.
For two years, we had everything. The kind of love that only exists in fairy tales.
Then she left and took my heart with her.
I tried to heal. To throw myself into medical school. To forget her.
I thought I did.
Until today.
Those blue eyes, that sweet smile, the soft curves--that's my Delilah.
As soon as I hear her laugh, I know.
She's what's missing from my life.

I have three days to get her back.
God, I hope I'm as charming as I used to be.

From the author: Broken is a standalone second chance romance full of heat, heart, and heartbreak. Come see why readers say "Crystal Kaswell is the master of writing sharp, wounded characters who keep you on your toes."
My thoughts!

From the first pages you can feel the love our main characters Delilah and Trent have for each other. It’s pretty rear for me to be so invested in a book relationship, but I was invested in this one….all the way! It was beautiful to see them reconnect again. I loved the writing style, it was a dual POV and it worked amazingly with this story. It does moves from Past and Present, I don’t like that usually but it did add so much to the story. Yes, there were some things that I didn’t like, it dragged a little bit in the middle, but it wasn’t critical. It was a very dark fairytale kind of story and I enjoyed it.

TRIGGER WARNING- It does touch on the subject of suicide.

I will give it

3,5/5 stars

It wasn’t perfect but I did love our couple and writing style!
